Enjoying the best season of his young career, Washington Wizards forward Justin Champagnie landed a four-year, $10 million contract, his agent told ESPN on Sunday.
Champagnie, 23, in his second season in Washington, is averaging career highs in points (7.5), field goal percentage (50.4), 3-point percentage (37.6), rebounds (4.6) and steals (0.9) as a part-time starter.
In 15 starts over 40 games this season, Champagnie — who will earn $1.8 million for the rest of the season — is averaging 11.6 points and 7.5 rebounds. Originally an undrafted free agent in 2021, he joined the Wizards in February 2024 on a 10-day contract.
In parts of four seasons with the Toronto Raptors (2021-22), Boston Celtics (2022-23) and Wizards, Champagnie has averaged 5.0 points and 3.3 rebounds in 96 games (16 starts).
